Why should you work with me and when should you start?
Why should you work with me and when should you start?
Generally, most people are safe to return to gentle exercise once they return home from hospital. However, everyone is different so the best time is when YOU feel ready and recovered. The following is usually the best timeframe to aim for:
2 weeks after a heart attack, stent or angioplasty
2 weeks after an ablation or cardioversion
4-6 weeks after cardiac surgery depending
2 weeks after an acute heart failure episode once stable
Any time if you had your heart event months or years ago
What benefits will you see when you work with me?
After working with hundreds of patients with a wide range of heart conditions over the last 12 years I just love the buzz that comes with helping someone get their life back.
If you feel exhausted, unfit and aren't sure how to get your exercise back on track, then I can help! You will walk away from each session feeling energised, having learnt so much about your heart, but also how to exercise correctly and fuel your body to give it the correct energy it needs.
1. Increase your fitness and functional capacity so that you have the energy and strength to DO MORE
2. Lose weight and tone up so that you look and feel strong and confident in your clothes
3. Reduce your risk of having future heart disease or health problems
4. Stop living in fear and feel empowered to go out and enjoy exercise
5. Have more energy to live a full and active life
6. Improve your mood, mental health and emotional wellbeing
7. Get your life BACK and stop letting your heart condition get in the way
8. Increase your knowledge about your heart condition, your medications and what is 'normal' for you now
9. LOOK and FEEL better than you have in years
Your personalised cardiac rehab programme includes an individualised exercise and nutrition programme to follow. I will design a cardiac rehabilitation programme for you that is safe for your heart and give you weekly 'homework'.
Throughout our time together you will not only participate in a wide variety of exercises, you will learn WHAT to do that is best for your heart and WHY. You can then begin to perform exercise by yourself with your new confidence and knowledge! I’ll be here to see you in sessions and give you a home program that we tweak along the way.
